Reflected sunlight caused a fire in a bedroom of a house on Rostherne Road, Wilmslow.

One fire engine from Wilmslow and one from Widnes, which was covering the area, were called to the incident at 2.47pm on Wednesday, 26th February.

Smoke alarms fitted at the two storey detached house activated and alerted the residents who had evacuated the property when crews arrived.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and smoke was ventilated from the house using a high pressure fan.

Following an investigation it was found that reflected sunlight had ignited alcohol-based wipes, causing the fire.
