A vacancy has arisen at Wilmslow Town Council following the resignation of a representative of the Lacey Green Ward.

Trevor Jones stepped down on Thursday 9th January for health reasons.

He said "The difficult decision to resign from Wilmslow Town Council was based on health issues which have inhibited my ability in recent months to fully engage in the activities and decisions of the Council and this situation has proved the deciding factor in my stepping down at this time.

"It has been a privilege to have been part of a dedicated and hard-working team at WTC and I wish all individuals involved in council business every good wish for the future."

The vacancy will be filled by election if ten voters in the Lacey Green Ward request an election, but if no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by the Town Council, who will be at liberty to select who they wish, provided the person qualifies to be a councillor.

Wilmslow Town Council will formally declare the vacancy at its meeting on Monday, 20th January, with a view to advertising the vacancy shortly afterwards. The public will then have fourteen working days to submit a written request for an election.

We will keep you updated as a notice of the vacancy is published.
