
A dog was injured during a house burglary in which approximately £22,000 worth of cash and jewellery were stolen.
An unoccupied property on Manchester Road was broken into on Monday, 16th October, between the hours of 1.30pm and 4pm. The offenders gained access by breaking a window in the rear kitchen door.
PC Phil Tuck, from Macclesfield CID explained "The poogle dog was guarding the property at the time and we believe it was sprayed with something. The owners took Hugo to the vets and he was affected by the spray for several days.
"The owners of the property were on holiday at the time and their grown up children returned home to discover there had been a burglary."
A large amount of jewellery, thought to be worth £15,000 (picutred above) was taken along with nearly £7000 in cash.
Amongst the valuables was a gold cross necklace which had been passed down the family, along with rings, necklaces and watches.
