Wilmslow Trust present building design awards

Earlier this year Wilmslow Trust's invited the residents of Wilmslow to nominate buildings in Wilmslow which were new or altered in 2012 and they considered to be well designed.

As a result of these nominations, Wilmslow Trust has presented certificates commending the design of 52 Alderley Road and the extension to Kenmore Medical Centre on Alderley Road.

The selections were made by three members of the Trust committee: Ray Acton, who is a local historian, Chris Fasciato, an architect currently practising in Wilmslow, and Martin Hoyle, a retired architect.

Christopher Dodson, Chairman of Wilmslow Trust said "52 Alderley Road is commended for its refreshingly clean and crisp recladding and refurbishment and Kenmore for the way its extension has been designed in sympathy with the surrounding area.

"Architecture is one of the most public of art forms. The Trust is keen to encourage good design and feels that this aspect does not always receive the attention it deserves from planners and others."

Certificates were presented by Christopher Dodson, Chairman of Wilmslow Trust, to Paul Wardle, managing director of Quorum Estates, for 52 Alderley Road and to Dr Sheikh and Dr Huddart for Kenmore.

Wilmslow Trust will shortly be inviting nominations for similar awards in respect of buildings completed or significantly altered in 2013.
