Cabinet meeting to be streamed over the internet

Cheshire East Council will be breaking new ground next week when their Cabinet meeting is filmed and streamed live over the internet for the first time.

The Leader of the Council has instructed officers to arrange webcasting of the Cheshire East Council Cabinet meeting on Monday, 22nd July, as a pilot. The Council will then consider streaming all future Cabinet meetings.

Cllr Brian Silvester confirmed that councillors were only informed of this decision by email on Friday afternoon.

They were told "At this stage the webcasting of the meeting on the 22 July is considered as a pilot to inform a future approach to webcasting meetings. By piloting or trialling in this way we can learn a lot about the issues, implications and impact of webcasting our meetings."

Cheshire East Council has commissioned Public-i to deliver the webcast, they provide similar services to a number of other local authorities and public sector organisations including Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The Cabinet meeting on Monday, 22nd July, starts at 2pm and the webcast can be viewed live via the Cheshire East Council website.

The recording will be archived so people can watch it later at their own convenience, or again if they wish.
