Wilmslow Green Room Theatre has applied to build a first floor extension for use as a rehearsal room.

The current building on Chapel Lane does not have a dedicated rehearsal area, which causes severe limitations as rehearsals must take place in the same area as performances. Hence each production has to wait for performances to finish before commencing rehearsals - which limits the numbers of performances which can be presented each season.

The planning application states "the construction of a dedicated rehearsal studio will allow productions to start the rehearsal period earlier, independent of the previous one. The intention is that it will promote improved standards of performance and production values. It should also allow extra productions to be introduced within the season. It could also allow other organisations to use the space. In addition, the availability of the building for the Youth Group will be improved."

The proposed studio would be constructed above the foyer with access from the entrance lobby.

The planning application can be viewed of the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/0860M.

The deadline for submitting comments is 10th April and a decision is expected to be made by 7th May.
