Warning over fake £20 notes

Residents and businesses are being warned to be on their guard after two males tried to buy items from a shop in Wilmslow using fake £20 notes on Tuesday, 29th January.

The first male is described as white, aged 25-30 years and 6' 2" tall. The man was of stocky build with closely shaven hair and stubble. He was wearing a brown coat, blue jeans and brown shoes.

The second male was white, of similar height to the first male and in his mid 20s. He was of slim build and wearing blue jeans with a black jacket possibly made by Superdry.

The shop assistant attempted to keep the notes but the men snatched them back and ran off.

People are advised to check bank notes before accepting them.

How do you know if a note is genuine or not? Is there an easy test as fakes seem to be so realistic now

You can use a note detector pen, to be had for less than £2 including postage online.
