Panto time at St Anne's

Audiences at St Anne’s, Fulshaw, saw Associate Priest, Reverend Magdalen Smith in a whole new light on Sunday afternoon. Swapping ecclesiastical vestments for tricorn and breeches, the Vicar delighted the crowded hall with her spirited performance as Captain Hook in this year’s Pantomime, Peter Pan.

The recently revived tradition, dating back originally to the 1980’s, saw an all age cast perform the annual show. Props from the original 1985 version were given a dusting down and in true panto tradition, the audience sang, clapped, booed and hissed along with the action.

Peter Pan (Hannah James) exhorted grown-ups and children alike to declare that they really did believe in fairies, to save brave Tinkerbell (Rachel Mulroy), while the crocodile (Mike Garside) put paid to fiercesome Captain Hook. Directed by Chris Murray (playing Nana the canine nursemaid), the show gave the young actors, including Bertie Dudley (playing Wendy) the chance to show off singing and dancing talents.

Will the cast be able to repeat their stellar performance next year? Oh yes they will!!

An amazing performance by all the cast. It didn't matter if you were aged 2 or 82, it was a thoroughly entertaining and hilarious performance. Magdalen as Captain Hook was the smiliest Baddy I have ever seen!! Well done to all who took part on stage and behind the scenes. Brilliant!!!
