Bonfire and fireworks event goes off with a bang

The members of Wilmslow Round Table are today reflecting on another very successful Charity Bonfire and Firework Display.

This year saw a record attendance at this long standing Wilmslow community event. Perfect weather conditions, together with the presence of Imagine FM helped to contribute to a vibrant atmosphere enjoyed by approximately 8,000 people.

Visitors enjoyed a spectacular firework display, provided by Highlight Pyrotechnics, together with live music performances and a fun fair with rides for younger children. Also on offer was a wide variety of food and drink, including Indian and Thai cuisine, fresh doughnuts and mulled wine.

The event was again supported by the Cheshire Constabulary and St. John's Ambulance, who provided trained personnel on the field. Additionally, Round Table and local groups provided in excess of 100 marshals for the event.

Wilmslow Round Table would also like to apologise for the delay to the start of the main firework display, which was a result of a technical issue outside of our control.

Local charities benefited significantly from the 2011 event and we are hoping to at least match fundraising as a result of this year's event.

On behalf of Wilmslow Round Table, our thanks go to the general public for their continued support and to all out volunteers for their invaluable help in the smooth running of the event.

This is a member post by Stephen Killilea, Chairman of Wilmslow 2012 Round Table Bonfire and Fireworks.
