Cheshire East Council has agreed to provide £22,773 in grants to community and voluntary organisations
The third round of grants for 2012/13 has seen 22 groups receive awards ranging from £250 to £3,000.
These grants are available to support community, environmental, sports, arts, heritage and play projects. Only one grant can be awarded to each organisation per financial year.
Applications are judged on a number of criteria and they should be able to display that their project: enhances the quality of life for Cheshire East residents; increases involvement in the community; demonstrates the potential to be sustained in the future; and that it can attract more participants.
Local organisations to benefit this round include The Lindow Singers who have been given a £250 events grant to go towards the purchase of rack cards which will help them publicise their concerts and reach a wider audience.
St Mary's Church, Handforth has been given a £3000 facilities grant to help the group upgrade the toilet facilities in the Church Hall to include disabled and baby changing facilities.
The Hall is used by many community groups, including Brownies, toddler groups and yoga. They are making a large contribution to this project themselves and will be applying to the Parish Council as well as Cheshire Community Foundation for financial support as the total cost of the project is £24,000.
