Police issue efit of man wanted in connected with robbery

Detectives have released an efit of a man they are keen to trace in connection with a street robbery in Wilmslow.

He threatened a 20-year-old woman with a hammer and assaulted her as she was walking alone along Chancel Lane at around 11.40pm on Wednesday 5th September.

The offender also made a grab for her bag, a struggled ensued and she fell to the floor. He assaulted the woman and eventually managed to take her bag before making off.

He is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall with a thin build and a pale complexion.

He had a local accent and was wearing a black coat with the hood up.

DC Tim Humpage said: "Thankfully despite falling to the floor she didn′t suffer any injuries. However she was left shaken and distressed by her ordeal.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen a man matching the description walking along Church Street and then Chancel Lane to contact us. We would also appeal to anyone who saw a man and woman struggling with each other in the street to come forward."
