A Wilmslow town councillor is warning residents about 'dodgy sales methods' which have been reported in the Lacey Green area of town.

Cllr Trevor Jones said "I recently had a visit from a door-to-door canvasser offering a 'prize draw' ticket in exchange for contact details including phone number. My refusal to provide these details caused the guy to recover the 'ticket' and off he went.

"Over the next couple of days I was advised of a few Lacey Green residents receiving high-pressure sales calls pushing for home appointments to demo a Kirby vacuum cleaner which has had a 'siege' effect on certain elderly constituents living alone."

I contacted Cheshire East Council regarding these incidents. They confirmed that they have not received any reports of high pressure selling tactics but recommend that if anyone has been made to feel like they were subjected to high pressure selling tactics they should log their complaint with the Citizen Advice Consumer Service (08454 04 05 06) who will then forward the information to Cheshire East Council.
