Local group Transition Wilmslow has invited environment consultancy, Countryscape, to give a talk on Tuesday 21st August in Wilmslow Library.
A landscape ecologist will give a presentation on landscape assessment, and outline methods of improving the future development of our town.
The presentation will include practical techniques and information that can be used by the community to understand and celebrate how the landscape of Wilmslow has been shaped, its local distinctiveness and how the community values it. There will be an open discussion and an opportunity to look at freely available information and maps that can be used to understand the natural and cultural landscape.
Jonathan Porter, of Manchester-based Countryscape, explains "The landscape is more than the physical surroundings; people interacting with the environment, as well as memories and experiences, all shape the sense of place."
Rachel Corrigan of Transition Wilmslow said “Deeper understanding of Wilmslow’s landscape is a key element of developing sustainable plans for the future.
"As a group, we are interested in what a landscape assessment can tell us, particularly at a time when the future vision of Wilmslow is under discussion. Anyone concerned about ensuring future developments in our town are invited to come and find out more."
The meeting will start at 7.30pm and is open to all. For anyone who wants more information on Transition Wilmslow visit www.transitionwilmslow.co.uk.
