A group of Explorer Scouts from Wilmslow slept rough in a temporary self-built shelter in the rain last week.
St. John's Lindow Explorer Scouts survived with limited food and water as part of a nationwide initiative called 'Slum Survivor', created by Soul Action.
The teenagers met the various challenges of simulated slum life, including building their own slum, carrying their own water, eating basic dahl for all meals, having things 'stolen' from their slums and making their own footballs out of plastic bags and cardboard.
Gareth Crispin, Youth, Children & Families Minister at St. John's Church, Lindow, said We've had a great time, the experience has helped everyone get a better understanding of the conditions in which many people have to live their lives and God's heart for the poor and oppressed."
