It may only be the beginning of June but Wilmslow Town Council are already thinking about this year's Christmas lights switch on.
A working group of the council are discussing initial ideas for the event which could see reindeers parading through the town pulling Santa on his sleigh.
Town Clerk Matthew Jackson told councillors at this month's meeting that securing the reindeer parade would cost in the region of £2800.
The idea is that 4 or 5 reindeer would bring Santa and possibly a couple of children through the town and finish in a penned area where the children could go and take a closer look.
Matthew Jackson said "It is not inexpensive but it is something the working group decided they wanted to pursue.
"This won't be the only cost of putting the Christmas switch on event together as we will probably require a stage and sound system, which is likely to cost in the region of £1500 to £2000."
He added "In Knutsford having the reindeers increased the numbers attending the switch on significantly. It would be something new and different for Wilmslow which would appeal to the younger members of society."
Wilmslow Town Council has a budget of £50,000 for events this year and will have spent about £4000 of this on the Jubilee celebrations.
Councillors agreed to pursue the idea further and discussed requesting £10,000 from the budget for this year's Christmas light switch on.
