Pownall Hall hosts a junior fun run

run ff 1

Local schools were invited to take part in a junior run for fun this week by Pownall Hall School.

The run, was held at Wilmslow Rugby Club, was open to all Year 1 and 2 children and for most of the young boys and girls this was their first opportunity to take part in such an event.

Approximately 90 children from other schools joined Pownall Hall's children for this event which they were all very excited about.

Year 1 children ran approximately 600 meters and Year 2 ran approximately 1100 meters. There were many parents, teachers and helpers who very generously supported the run and made the afternoon a great success. All the schools received a certificate for their hard efforts and well earned refreshments were served back at Pownall Hall.

Sports teacher Mrs Sharon Johnstone, who arranged the event, said "We believe that all children, of all ages, whatever their ability should take part in sports events like this. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they were so enthusiastic it was lovely to see. By involving the local community and other schools, it shows our young children that sport is fun, and we hope they carry this enjoyment on to other sports as they get older."
