Actors aim for world's first

A Wilmslow theatre group are preparing to take to the streets to perform the same play in multiple locations to achieve a Guinness World Record.

On Saturday 3rd September they will perform a 'simultane-a-thon', when several different Wilmslow Green Room casts, located at various venues around the area, all read the same play at precisely the same time.

The Green Room is pleased to have received permission to enact the 1998 Edinburgh Fringe Festival smash hit comedy 'Teleluvvies' written by Mike Woodhead and Emma Clarke. With their kind permission, this very funny play has been adapted by the Green Room's Mark Jephcott and Celia Bonner for its planned public performance in up to 15 different locations.

"The Wilmslow Green Room has been going since 1924, a time when its roots were firmly fixed in street entertainment performed by travelling players", explained Press Officer, Hilary Pinnock. "So it's only right that we should showcase this fine tradition by once again taking this very funny play out onto the streets of Wilmslow, Macclesfield and surrounding towns."

Come rain or shine, members of the Green Room will start the play at 12 noon precisely on Saturday September 3rd at places such as Wilmslow's Bank Square, Macclesfield's Town Hall, the Atrium at Handforth Dean and of course, outside the Green Room itself on Chapel Lane.

These are just five of up to fifteen different places where the casts can be found on the day. All the casts will start to read the play at the same time and when finished they will have read the same play the most number of times at the same time - a world first.
