The 100th Wilmslow Show was a tremendous success with at least 7000 people gathering at Wilmslow High School to enjoy a great day out for both the young and old.
To mark the occasion a whole host of events had been organised including a special flyover by the RAF Battle of Britain Flight's Dakota.
The Horticultural Society's Marquee was a show in its own right, hosting vegetable, art, flower and photographic competitions and displays. Whilst the Classic Car Show, which has grown over the years, was a superb display of over 400 cars of yesterday.
No show would be complete without the animals, which included pony rides, alpachas, a 'mini zoo' and the ever popular Fun Dog Show. There was also a chainsaw carving demonstration, a 1970's BBC TV Outside Broadcast Unit Scanner, archery and over 45 stalls in the craft marquee.
Imagine fm broadcast live from the show throughout the day and a wide range of arena events took place including Dog and Ducks, Falconry Display and Taekwondo demonstrations.
Music was provided by Wilmslow High School Wind Band, Hazel Grove Silver Band, Alderley District Scout Band, KEMS Concert Band and the Bourbon Street Jazz Band.
Show organiser Frank McCarthy said "We printed 5000 tickets and these ran out at about 1.30. We estimate that at least 7000 people attended so it was probably the biggest event to have happened in Wilmslow.
"We were staggered by how many people came, we have never seen queues like it before. They were still queuing at 2.30 right back to Holly Road.
"Even though we had almost double the car parking this year, which we thought would be more than adequate, we ran out of spaces.
"This bodes wonderfully well for the future. It is getting expensive to run the show, just the insurance is £2000, so if we can continue like this then the future of the Wilmslow Show is secure."
