A Wilmslow solicitors have celebrated their 10th anniversary by donating £10,000 to charity.

Bott & Co Solicitors, which practices conveyancing and personal injury law, marks its 10th year of trading this month and has just signed a new six year lease keeping them in the town until at least 2017.

To further emphasise the firm's commitment to Wilmslow, Managing Partner David Bott handed over a cheque for £10,000 to Wilmslow Wells for Africa today, Thursday 10th March.

David said "Wilmslow has been really good for our business and this is simply our way of giving something back."

Joanna Southgate, President and former chairman, Marion Jones, Trustee and founder member, and Helen Battilana, Trustee and Chairman, were delighted to accept the cheque on behalf of Wilmslow Wells for Africa.

Helen said "We are thrilled to receive this very substantial donation of £10,000 from Bott & Co because it will allow Wilmslow Wells for Africa to enable the provision of clean water to thousands more Africans living in rural communities.

"In this country we tend to take fresh, drinkable water for granted whereas in Africa, getting clean water is often an unattainable dream. All too often people suffer appalling illnesses such as worm infection, eye and skin diseases, or they die as a result of drinking from putrid water-holes - the only source of supply in far too many remote villages in Africa.

Since being founded in the mid-1980's, the charity has completed more than 130 water projects in 15 African countries and they have many more applications for new projects to consider. Wilmslow Wells are especially proud of the fact that only 1% of their income is used for running costs.

Helen added "Our 'thank you' today is in fact an expression of gratitude for years to come from the huge number of men, women, and children whose lives will be made infinitely better as a result of the company's generosity."

Bott & Co are also celebrating by rewarding clients with a discount off any genuine written conveyancing quote for anyone buying or selling domestic property in the area, an offer that will also include a donation of £50 to Comic Relief.
