Following allegations concerning the treatment of children at a Wilmslow nursery a police investigation against the owners has been dropped.
Wilmslow Day Nursery, run by Lorraine Wroe and Jenny Scott, was closed by Ofsted in November to enable a full investigation to be carried out by police and Cheshire East Council.
The nursery closed for good the following month when the couple decided to cease operating and resigned their registration on 14th of December 2010.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said "Following an investigation by Cheshire Police into the welfare and management of children at Wilmslow Day Nursery, a file was prepared and presented to the Crown Prosecution Service.
"The CPS reviewed the file and concluded that no further action should be taken against the two women, aged 34 and 36, who were arrested on suspicion of wilful ill treatment and neglect.
"The women have therefore had their bail cancelled."
The small, private day nursery, was situated on Hawthorn Lane and catered for children from 3 months to 5 years.
