Zumbathlon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Two local ladies whose lives have been affected by cancer are organising a Zumbathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Niki Hampton-Bennett and Helen Doolan, who both live in Wilmslow and run Elite Fizzique together, will be holding the two hour Zumba class at Wilmslow Leisure Centre on Saturday 15th January from 12.30 to 2.30 pm.

Niki told me "We decided to do a Zumbathon as January is a particularly depressing month for most after the Christmas festivities have been and gone. Zumba classes are renowned for helping with depression as well as burning off the excess calories taken over Christmas!

"It will be like a non-stop party with Latin inspired music which is totally addictive.

"We chose the Macmillan Cancer Support as both myself and Helen have had experiences with this terrible disease. Helen was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2008 and our close friend lost her father last year through cancer. She regularly holds Macmillan charity events because she found Macmillan Cancer Support invaluable whilst her Dad was very ill."

There will also be a free raffle with a week's accommodation in a luxury Spanish apartment as top prize. Other prizes include a free MOT and oil service along with several beauty treatments.

Tickets, costing £10, are available from the reception at Wilmslow Leisure Centre or by email.
