Wilmslow Day Nursery to remain closed

Following allegations concerning the treatment of children in their care, Wilmslow Day Nursery was closed last month to enable a full investigation to be carried out by police and Cheshire East Council.

Today a spokesperson from Ofsted, who had been liasing with the police and local authority, told us "Ofsted received concerns regarding the care of children at Wilmslow Day Nursery on 8th November 2010. As part of our ongoing investigations the nursery was suspended on 12th November 2010.

"The registered provider decided to cease operating and resigned their registration on the 14th of December 2010. The nursery therefore remains closed."

The small, private day nursery, situated on Hawthorn Lane, catered for children from 3 months to 5 years and was run by Lorraine Wroe and Jenny Scott.
