At a recent meeting of Handforth Town Council it was unanimously agreed to provide St Benedict's Catholic Primary School with a grant of £2,000 to transform a small space in the school into a calm space for children with additional needs.
St Benedict's School, which has seen the number of children with with SEND* needs double in recent years, is a small school and there are currently no breakout spaces for children to rest and recharge away from busy classrooms.
Cllr Susan Moore, Chair of Handforth Town Council attended a recent assembly at the school to present the cheque from Handforth Town Council and said: "The town council are delighted to be able to support our local school knowing what a financially challenging time they face in the current climate.
"This is the exact reason that the town council exists to support our local community in whatever way we can."
