Transition Wilmslow has secured funding to deliver a project, which will tackle improving electrical safety of repaired items at their repair cafés and also help advise local youngsters in electrical safety.
The grant award of £1,310 will be spent on sending three of their repair café volunteers on a PAT testing course in early January which will help ensure all repaired electrical items are safe prior
to being returned to the customers. Also, training will be provided to young people in the Wilmslow area in electrical safety so that they will be better prepared when dealing with electricity.
Ken Wallace, Transition Wilmslow repair café organiser, said I am thrilled with this grant award as it is vital that all electrically repaired items are safe before returning to the repair café customers.
"Additionally, our local young people need to know the basics of electrical safety so that when they are working with electricity, they will be safe.
The Electrical Safety Fund is an annual grant scheme run by the charity Electrical Safety First.
Lesley Rudd, chief executive at Electrical Safety First, says: "We are delighted to award this grant to Wilmslow Repair Cafe. Our Electrical Safety Fund is designed to empower groups to help keep local people in their communities safe."
