Picking the perfect dress is a crucial part in every bride's wedding day preparations and now the UK's leading end of life charity Marie Curie has made it easier for local brides-to-be by opening their first pop up wedding shop in Alderley Edge.
Until August 28, the charity shop on London Road is offering budget-conscious brides-to-be the chance to purchase a range of wedding attire rather than its usual selection of donated items.
Despite the cost-of-living crisis, the average wedding now costs £24,710 but Marie Curie is selling a range of preloved and new wedding dresses ranging from £150 – £400. Unlike traditional wedding shops no appointment is needed, and customers can just pop in and browse the store.
Bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride outfits and suits as well as accessories including tiaras, hats, shoes, and bags are also available at a fraction of their usual price.
Alice Roberts, manager of Marie Curie Alderley Edge shop, said: "We are thrilled to be hosting Marie Curie's first wedding shop for the next six weeks. With the cost-of-living crisis still at the forefront of everyone's minds and so many shoppers opting for sustainable fashion, we are pleased to be offering preloved and new items at reasonable prices, all the while helping to raise vital funds for end of life care for people in Cheshire and across the UK.
"The shop has already attracted some attention and one mum passing by when we were setting up – saw a bridesmaid dress through the window which was perfect for her daughter Sadie's confirmation."
Members of the public can also donate their unwanted wedding dresses/outfits at the shop. If any bridal wear shops have any end of range or out of season stock they wish to donate, please contact the shop by email: [email protected]
The Marie Curie 'Pop up Wedding shop' will be open now until August 28; (Monday 0900–1600, Tuesday to Saturday 0930 – 1630 and Sunday 1100-1600).
