Residents are being invited to meet Tatton candidates for the forthcoming General Election at two hustings being held in Wilmslow this month.
Firstly, local environmental charity Transition Wilmslow is hosting a Climate and Nature Recovery Election Hustings on Saturday, 8th June, at the United Reformed Church Hall on Chapel Lane from 1.30 to 3.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to hear four of our Tatton parliamentary candidates talk about their plans for tackling climate change, biodiversity loss and nature recovery.
Lisa Johnson, Trustee of Transition Wilmslow, said "Climate change and the loss of nature in our urban and rural landscapes are some of the most important issues of our time. We have suffered excessively hot summers and this winter, endless rain; we see our natural world degraded with fewer birds, insects and trees; and yet we know how much green spaces and clean open water mean to us all for our physical and mental health.
"Without urgent national and international action, we will lose much more of our precious natural world and weather will become much more unpredictable."
She added "She added "Action on climate will need us to make changes to the way we live; how do we make this fair for everyone?
"Despite the importance of nature recovery and action on climate disruption, we have heard very little about them so far in election coverage.
"We are delighted that Tatton Parliamentary candidates Nigel Hennerley (Green), Ryan Jude (Labour), Esther McVey (Conservative) and Jonathan Smith (Liberal Democrat) have agreed to come along to our hustings and answer questions about climate and nature recovery. For those who would like to hear our candidates discuss a wider range of issues, a second hustings organised by Churches Together in Wilmslow will take place on 18 June, 7pm for 7.15, again at the URC Hall."

This will be followed by the Churches Together in Wilmslow's General Election Hustings which will be held on Tuesday 18th June at 7 for 7.15pm, at the United Reformed Church. Mark Owen from Life Church, who is a solicitor from a different constituency, will act as chair.
