Cinema on the Carrs has been a pivotal feature on the Wilmslow events calendar since 2015.

Wilmslow Town Council fund and organise this focal community summer event, which is free to attend and allows friends, family and neighbours to gather with their picnic mats and enjoy food, drink and films together in the surroundings of the Carrs Park.

This year's Cinema on the Carrs also sees the return of the Duck Race, organised by Girlguiding Handforth and Wilmslow.

A variety of food and drink will be available to purchase from stalls inside the arena and Lindow Explorers and Scouts will be running a tuck shop.

The timings for the day will be as follows:

  • 12pm: Arena & Food and drink court opens. Entertainment commences. Duck race entries available to purchase.
  • 2pm: Afternoon film – Wonka
  • 4.15pm: Duck Race
  • 7.30pm: Evening Film – Barbie
  • 10pm: Event ends

Wilmslow Town Mayor, Tim Higgins, said, "This year's Cinema on the Carrs promises to be a great day out for all.

"We were overwhelmed by the response to the public vote held to choose the two films. The winning films were hugely popular in cinemas when they were released last year; we are thrilled to be bringing them to the Carrs for this free outdoor event.

"There will be a tempting range of food and drink available to buy on the day – or picnics are very welcome.

"Last year's Duck Race had the community lining the banks of the Bollin to watch the race and we thank local Girlguiding groups for running this exciting part of the event again this year.

"We are proud to fund and organise Cinema on the Carrs and can't wait to see Wilmslow residents out enjoying the day. "
