Burglars strike twice on Meriton Road

Police were called to reports of a burglary on Meriton Road in Handforth at 4.34am on Sunday, 7th January.

Officers attended and found that an unknown person had gained access to a property by snapping the lock on the rear kitchen door.

A number of Christmas presents along with the keys to a black BMW 330e, which was parked on the driveway, were stolen. They also took the keys to a second vehicle which was not at the property. The offenders then stole the BMW and fled the scene.

Two days later burglars struck again on the same road in Handforth.

Police were called to reports of an attempted burglary on Meriton Road at 1.45pm on Tuesday, 9th January.

The caller reported that an unknown man had smashed a door at the rear of their property and attempted to gain access.

After being disturbed by the occupant the man fled the scene, jumping over the fence towards Sagars Lane.

There is also believed to be a second man with the suspect.

A police spokesperson said "One of the males was described as black, wearing a grey hoodie with a high vis vest over it."
