Songwriters from across Wilmslow and the wider region will be performing at the Wilmslow Conservative Club on September 16th, to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer - the UK's leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families - in support of local lad Samuel.
The 'Acoustic Songwriters Night' is being organised by local man Ian Goodall, from Alderley Edge, whose grandson Samuel, aged 6, is being treated for a brain tumour and is being supported by Young Lives vs Cancer.
Performers on the night will include The Longsands, The Be Positives, Bobby Wonder, Jess Scragg, and Ryan Cheyne.
Ian was inspired to organise the Acoustic Songwriters Night following Samuel's cancer diagnosis and treatment, and said "Samuel, my bubbly, cheeky, clever grandson spent his 6th birthday and the first part of this year in hospital. His courage and fortitude as he faces another nine months of gruelling treatment is both astonishing and humbling.
"Hopefully the event will raise awareness of cancer in young people, and its devastating effect upon their families, and I'm immensely grateful to all who have contributed their time, talent, expertise and donations."
The money raised by the Acoustic Songwriters night will help to fund Young Lives vs Cancer's vital work in the North West. Last year in the North West, Young Lives vs Cancer helped 738 families to find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them.
They gave out 610 financial grants to the value of £123,475 helping families to cope with the costs of cancer. Families with a child on active treatment spend an extra £720 a month on things like travel to and from treatment and hospital parking, money many families simply don't have.

"Thanks to Ian, and everyone who attends the performances, we will be able to help even more children and young people from the North West, like Samuel, to thrive not just survive after their cancer diagnosis."
