Love Local Life, the loyalty card that encourages people to shop local and think local has just reach a major milestone with its first birthday this month.

From humble beginnings in Macclesfield, the scheme can now proudly boast 135 partners and over 2000 card sales across the region.

The concept was started by Macclesfield business owner Amanda Fazelynia who after feeling the effects of the recession at her own business decided something needed to be done to keep local high streets thriving.

Love Local Life was launched with 30 businesses in Macclesfield and now, a year later, the scheme has attracted media attention, grant funding from Cheshire East Council and is active in several Cheshire towns including Macclesfield, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Bollington and Bramhall.

Amanda Fazelynia said "I’m delighted to see how much the initiative has grown in a year. The businesses that are part of it are all over the moon at the effect it has had on trade. It’s also been wonderful to see how well the local public have embraced the scheme, who wouldn’t want to make a saving when they shop in local businesses? It’s a win-win situation from all sides.”

Local Cheshire resident William Roache, Coronation Streets Ken Barlow is firmly supporting the scheme; “It’s fantastic to see the development of Love Local Life in just a year. It emphasises the importance of supporting your local town.

"Cheshire has been home to me for many years and for me local life is all about the variety. Schemes such as Love Local Life encourage this variety and ensure we see a colourful mix in our local towns which is something I for certain would not want to lose.”

Wilmslow based businesses participating in the loyalty scheme include Fruit Magic, Hoopers, Ned Yates, Wilmslow Travel, Apparel, Chelsea Flowers and Barinda Indian Restaurant.
