The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle gets a makeover in this acclaimed adaptation by Steven Canny and John Nicholson for the Peepolykus Theatre Company.
When Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on his estate, with a look of terror still etched on his face, and the paw prints of a gigantic hound beside his body, the great detective Sherlock Holmes is summoned from Baker Street, with Dr Watson in tow, to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death, and investigate the ancient curse of the Hound of the Baskervilles...
In this adaptation, three actors play a multitude of parts to bring this comic caper to life including Holmes and Watson, Mortimer – a physician, Sir Henry Baskerville – the last surviving member of the Baskerville family and heir to the estate, Mr Barrymore - Sir Charles Baskerville's trusted butler, a cockney Cabbie, Yokel's 1, 2 and 3 and many more colourful characters.
Director John Chidgey commented "This will be The Green Rooms last production of our current season which we hope as many of our regular audience, members and local people will come and enjoy with us before we paws for the summer.
"If you haven't seen a play at The Green Room before then I think that this play would be an excellent introduction as we have three experienced and highly talented actors in Charlie Cook, Lorna Kong and Carys Jones and a great production team to bring this howlingly funny story to the stage!"
