After a two year enforced break, the countdown is on for this year's Wilmslow Community Show and the organisers are hoping that the 108th show will be the best yet.

The break has provided an opportunity to keep the best bits of previous shows, retire other things and introduce some new elements in a bid to make the show a showcase for what is great about the town.

Show Chair, Angela McPake said "We are seeing the break we have had forced on us as a chance to slightly reposition the show with a real focus on all the things that go on in Wilmslow. As well as being a really good day for the whole family, I really hope that people leave having learnt just one new thing about where we live!."

The headline act in the arena is a stunt show and the live music on the band stand features, amongst others, Red Sky Dawn, whose members include former pupils from the High School, and the current High School jazz band.

The dog show makes a welcome return alongside a new cookery demonstration marquee and 'Art Under Canvas', a marquee dedicated to local artists from the area.

Local businesses will be out in force as will lots of local charities and community groups, including Wilmslow Albion, Wilmslow Lacrosse, Wilmslow Lightening Netball team and Pownall Hall Tennis Club who will all be on the field on the day.

Additionally, the organisers have arranged for Darth Vader, Boba Fett and the Stormtroopers to drop in on the day to help raise funds for Visyon, a mental health charity supporting young people.

There is also a fun fair and lots of free activities, funded by a grant from Wilmslow Town Council, for the whole family - including donkey rides.

If you want to get involved, this year sees the launch of baking and jam making competitions in the cookery marquee. With competitions for adults and children, the 'cost of entry' will be an item of food to be gifted to Hope Central, one of the food banks that supports local people. Entry forms can be found at www.wilmslowshow.co.uk.

This year's Wilmslow Community Show is on Sunday 3rd July at the Carnival Field, Altrincham Road from 11am-4pm. There is a park and ride service available from the Broadway Meadow Car park and advance tickets can be purchased from www.wilmslowshow.co.uk.
