Young entrepreneurs' local cookbook secures them place in regional final

A group of seven students from Wilmslow High School have created a cookbook which has been compiled from contributions made by local residents

The group of sixth formers are working on a business called 'Simply Wilmslow' for the Young Enterprise national competition.

Zulema Sheikh, Managing Director of Simply Wilmslow, told me "We have created a cookbook with recipes submitted by locals in order to build community spirit and get people back into the habit of cooking home made meals with the ever increasing rise in ready made meals and takeaways which aren't necessarily nutritious.

"In order, to collect recipes when we originally started the idea for a book we identified that litter was a big problem amongst residents of Wilmslow and in order to help we started a competition through Facebook in which for every recipe submitted we will do 10 minutes of litter picking. We have now done over 350 minutes of litter picking which is an ever increasing number."

Having achieved second place in the previous round of the competition the Wilmslow team are through to the Cheshire & Warrington final which takes place on Wednesday 27th April at Chester University.
