Jumble sale raises thousands of pounds for Ukraine

A jumble sale organised by Wilmslow residents and 1st Lindow Scouts has raised £3225 for the Disasters Emergency Appeal for Ukraine.

Bargain hunters were queuing outside St Johns Lindow early on Saturday 9th April, waiting for actress, Sue Johnston, to open proceedings.

Sue Johnston, a local resident and a familiar face from prime time shows including Brookside and the Royle Family, said: "I was very happy to open the jumble sale as it was for such an important cause. I was amazed at how generous people were, both in the giving of things and the buying. We all want to help out in some way."

Lisa Johnson and Kate Irwin masterminded the event with the support of 1st Lindow Scouts and local volunteers. Kate said: "We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised. We would like to thank everyone who donated items to sell, Lindow Cricket Club for storing everything, those who helped in advance and on the day, and everyone who came along."
