Wilmslow Town Council gives £10,000 grant to sponsor Wilmslow Show

Wilmslow Community Show

Wilmslow Town Council has agreed to sponsor this year's 108th Wilmslow Community Show, with a grant of £10,000.

Organised by volunteers, the show will take place on Sunday 3rd July and aims to offer entertainment and interest for visitors of all ages.

This year's show will include:

· Fairground rides, garden games, sumo suits and crazy bikes,

· Local community groups offering free activities,

· The very first dedicated cookery marquee, with cookery demonstrations from local chefs and a cookery competition.

The grant from Wilmslow Town Council will fund free stalls given to community groups / charities, to allow them to raise money for, or promote, their group.

The funding will also pay for some children's activities, allowing them to be free, in addition to covering some of the security costs of the event.

Wilmslow Town Council Chair, Martin Watkins, said of the sponsorship, "Wilmslow Town Council has been a sponsor of the show since 2013, and we are proud to continue our support for this wonderful community event.

"We are particularly delighted to enable the offering of free stalls to local groups, so that they can tell the community what they do – and hopefully raise funds too. After a three-year break due to Covid-19, we wish show organisers and visitors a day to remember."

Angela McPake, Chair of the Show Committee said, "We'd like to thank the Town Council for their support for this year's Wilmslow Community Show. The grant allows us to keep entry prices affordable, offer more free activities on the day and allow charity and community groups to attend for free'."
