Rain fails to dampen spirits as children run in memory of much-loved pupil

The rain could not dampen spirits today (Tuesday, 6th July, as children from St Benedict's dressed up as movie characters to raise money for Manchester Children's Hospital.

In memory of a much-loved pupil who passed away last year, children in Year 6 asked the headteacher, Mrs McGuire, if they could dress as princesses and complete a fun run.

The rest of the school joined in to support them and were full of smiles as they arrived at school to show off their costumes and were delighted to see the staff had joined in too.

Mrs McGuire said, "It is fantastic to see the children having so much fun today -it has not been an easy year for them and they have worked really hard so they deserve to enjoy themselves. Raising money for Manchester Children's Hospital was the children's idea and we are really proud of them."

One of the pupils in year 6 commented,"We know this is for a good cause which makes it even better to take part! We want to help other sick children."

Mrs McGuire added "Donations are still being counted but children and parents have been very generous."
