I’m amazed that they were able to chop down the beautiful trees that surrounded the vicarage. You’d think they’d be under some sort of preservation order.

What a shame to lose such an old historic building with character for souless modern houses. Handforth is already overdeveloped.

Currently there is a site being developed at the bottom of Meriton Road of over 200 houses. In addition to this there is an application to build around 20 houses on the old Knowle House site. Both these sites will increase the number of cars on Sagar Road.

Demolishing the vicarage which must be one of the few original buildings on Sagars Road and replacing it with a new vicarage and 3 four bedroom houses with 14 parking spaces will not only remove a really historic house but also increase traffic despite the impact of the other two sites not yet being experienced.

We now have a significant number of houses being built in the vicinity, not only in Handforth but also at Stanneylands just how many of these were needed to support the housing needs of residents in Cheshire East, particularly those wanting to get on the housing ladder?

Bang goes another piece of local history and a charming vista to the greed and avarice of developers. We can only hope their profits imitate the ancient mariner's albatross.

They will be building over the garden and fencing it. No more open public space - again.
