Wilmslow Mens 1st 5 Chapeltown Mens 1st 1

Wilmslow Men's First Team continued their good post Christmas form with a 5-1 win against Sheffield club, Chapeltown.

The men in orange repeated their habit of starting games slowly, and after an even opening 10 minutes, Chapeltown took the lead after a flowing attacking move.

Wilmslow started to press their opponents more aggressively in response to try and find an equaliser. Within 10 minutes they were level as captain Ben James won the ball in midfield and fed Jack Wright, who combined well with Joe Booth and Pete Hallinan before cracking the ball into the corner of the Chapeltown net.

The game remained even until half time. In the second half, Wilmslow took control of the game. David Boddy marked his return from injury with a goal to put Wilmslow in the lead when he deflected Martin Wright's shot from a short corner past the Chapeltown keeper.

Wilmslow were now well on top and Fabio Stubbs extended the lead with a sharp back post finish after great work from Pete Hallinan. Top scorer Hallinan added a goal of his own to make it 4-1 just one minute afterwards as Wilmslow put the result beyond doubt.

With 10 minutes to go, man of the match Harry Dukes won a short corner, from which Mike Sambell shot goalwards and Boddy repeated his earlier trick with a second deflected goal to complete the scoring and a 5-1 victory for Wilmslow.

Wilmslow 2nd team had a close encounter with up and coming club Golborne. Golborne's 1st team provided stiff opposition, the game eventually ending 3-3.

Mens 3rd drew 2-2 with Knutsford 2nd in a game they dominated but the game of the day at the lower levels was the 4th team's 5-2 win against Timperley with an excellent second half display aftergoing in 1-1 at half time
