Firefighters were called following reports of a fire near Styal Prison on Saturday, 11th May.
Crews arrived around 7.15pm to find a fire involving a homeless campsite on the prison boundary. They used a hose reel jet, ladder and a water backpack to extinguish the flames.
The incident is thought to have been started deliberately and the matter has been handed over to prison staff and the police.
