Help select films for Cinema on the Carrs

Outdoor cinema returns to Wilmslow this summer with the fourth 'Cinema on the Carrs'.

Funded and organised by Wilmslow Town Council the event has proved successful in previous years and despite the setbacks caused by the weather last year, the Town Council feels that the event is supported by the public of Wilmslow and therefore have committed to providing it again in 2018.

The Cinema on the Carrs will take place on Saturday 9th June and will include a matinee film for families and children, afternoon entertainment for children, an afternoon duck race on the Bollin and then the main feature film in the evening.

As in previous years the food court will provide a full selection of food and drink options throughout the day.

Attendance at the event will once again be free, including access to the cinema arena.

Matthew Jackson, Town Clerk, said "The organising team are currently putting arrangements in place and are keen to know which films the public would like to watch. In previous years the main feature films Mama Mia, Grease and Dirty Dancing have all been chosen for their musical content which has proved popular, this year the shortlist includes both musical and non-musical options."

The evening film for 2018 will be chosen from the following list:

  • Hairspray
  • La La Land
  • Top Gun
  • Evita
  • Back to the Future
  • Jurassic Park
  • Sound of Music (singalong) – Fancy dress optional!

The afternoon film for 2018 will be chosen from the following list:

  • Finding Nemo
  • Toy Story
  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
  • Mary Poppins

As much as I love musicals... how about anything other than those kinds of movies? I'd much prefer something with a bit more diversity, that would attract a more diverse crowd!
