A group of travellers who are believed to have spent four days camped on Council owned sports fields off Altrincham Road have returned to the town.

The travellers arrived at the Jim Evison Playing Fields on Monday, 24th April, where they parked 16 caravans and two commercial vehicles. They left on Thursday evening (27th April) after being served an eviction notice by Cheshire East Council, and moved just down the road to Airport City site.

However, a group of about half a dozen caravans arrived about 3pm on Saturday, 30th April, when, according to a passer-by, they removed the height barriers so they could gain access to the Broadway Meadow car park, adjacent to Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

Tim Kingston, Gypsy and Traveller Liaison Officer for Cheshire East Council, informed wilmslow.co.uk that he will be visiting the site today and "start the process".
