Cadets' building and equipment damaged by sewage flood

Having suffered a flood, Wilmslow air cadets have been left without a building and lost the vast majority of their equipment.

Unfortunately the squadron's building was flooded by a sewer rendering it unusable for the next three to six months, during which time they will be parading in Poynton.

Due to the flood they have also had to condemn a lot of their equipment including desks and chairs, the computer tower for the flight simulator, tents, their brand new sports kit and sports equipment including a cricket set and hockey sticks. The pool table which the cadets enjoy on their break has also been damaged along with a projector screen for their lessons.

Everything had to be skipped apart from a small number of salvageable items which were on a high shelf.

Civillian Instructor Stephanie Wood said "As you can imagine, this will have a great impact on our cadets.

"We were hoping to be able to call upon the good nature of the Wilmslow residents who might be able to, or may know somebody who can, donate some equipment or funds to the Squadron so we are able to get back up and running as soon as possible, once the building is habitable again.

"Any help at all would be greatly appreciated by all staff and cadets of the 391 (Wilmslow) Squadron Air Cadets."

391 Wilmslow Squadron can be contacted by email or via 01625 859223 which we will be available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 7pm and 9.30pm for anybody who wishes to get in contact. Alternatively call Stephanie Wood on 07456 565 903.
