Parents are being warned asked to be extra vigilant after two teenagers reported suspicious activity in the past two weeks.

The first incident is believed to have taken place on 9th November at 4.30pm. A 13-year-old girl was walking along Nursery Lane when she spotted a red van driving slowly along the road behind her. The driver of the van got out of the vehicle – at no point did he speak to the girl or approach her.

The girl did not speak to the man and left the scene. She returned home and told her parents what had happened - the incident was reported to police on 16th November.

The second incident is believed to have taken place on Tuesday 17th November at 1pm.

A 16 year old girl was walking down Kingston Road in Handforth. As she passed the Pinewood Hotel she walked past a parked small silver car. The man in the car shouted at her to get in. She said no and walked off to alert an adult, who contacted police.

Officers attended the scene and made a search of the area – enquiries are ongoing at this time.

The man is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, either mixed race or tanned, with dark hair which was all one length above ears.

The girl's mother explained "He was stopped at the crossing near the Pinewood Hotel, went through a red light and pulled off the main road onto Kingston Road. He stopped and waited then told her to get in the car, a silver/grey banger.

"She turned and walked in the other direction towards people and he zoomed off."

Mr Mark Unwin, headteacher at Wilmslow Grange, wrote to the parents on Tuesday, 17th November "We would like to inform you that at lunchtime today a young lady was approached by a stranger on Ullswater Road. We have contacted the Police and they have increased police presence in the area, but we would like you to be extra vigilant."

A parent at the school told wilmslow.co.uk "Mrs McDonald, a teacher from Wilmslow Grange, arranged a 'walking bus' for any of our pupils that were walking home that evening too."

PC Richard Wadsworth said: "We have received two separate reports of incidents, which at this stage are not believed to be linked. I would like to reassure people that at no point was there any physical contact between the children and either man.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding these two incidents and whether anything of a sinister nature has occurred. As a precautionary measure, we are reminding people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police via 101."
