Members of the public have been voting to select which film will be shown at next year's Cinema on the Carrs.

In order to ensure that next year's event appeals to the largest local audience, residents were asked to vote for which film they would to see in 2016.

The public were invited to choose from the following three films: Back to the Future, Grease or Dirty Dancing. Alternatively, they could nominate a film of their own choice.

The results from last month's public vote have been announced and the movie Grease is the winner with over 51% of respondents voting for the smash-hit movie which was released June 1978.

Grease received more than twice the votes of Back to the Future, with Dirty Dancing trailing in third place, other movies were suggested which will give food for thought in future years but none polled in significant numbers.

Town Clerk, Matthew Jackson speaking on behalf of Wilmslow Town Council said "We are delighted to have received over 300 responses to the poll and to get a clear winner, we will now work towards building on the success of last year's inaugural event with another iconic sing-along movie classic."

Next year's Cinema on the Carrs is scheduled to take place on Saturday 18th June, followed by Party on the Carrs on Sunday 19th June - which will include a number of new initiatives.
