Saturday saw Lindow 1st XI travel to Runcorn for their latest Cheshire League 1 match. Winning the toss on a good batting pitch, Lindow made serene progress, pacing their innings nicely to reach 193. Skipper Ben Tyler was the pick of the batsman with an excellent 78, ably supported by Brady Yates (21), James Bracewell (22) and Arpan Desai (27).

When it came to Runcorn's turn to bat, Lindow knew that disciplined bowling and patience would reap dividends, especially with Scott Howarth picking up three early wickets to reduce the home team to 53-3. Some steady Runcorn batting brought the game more into the balance before Man of the Match Tyler came on, taking two wickets in two balls and finishing with 5-22. Runcorn were finally bowled out for 140 with Lindow claiming maximum points.

It was a Runcorn double-header as Lindow's 2nd XI welcomed their counterparts to Upcast Lane. The home team didn't allow losing the toss to the phase them as, bowling first, they soon reduced Runcorn to 29-3. Learning from the mistakes of the previous weekend, made when in an identical situation, Lindow refused to allow their opponents back into the match, maintaining their intensity in the field to dismiss Runcorn for a paltry 93, the wickets being shared amongst the five-strong bowling attack.

Lindow soon had the match wrapped up, taking only 19 overs to reach their target for the loss of just two wickets, Ian Park (29 no) and Andy Hume (21 no) seeing them home and a return to the top of the table.
