A former British racing cyclist and Olympic gold medalist led a bike ride around Wilmslow at the weekend to help support the launch of a specialist sports shop.
Thirty keen cyclists joined Chris Boardman MBE on Saturday, 6th June, for an hour and a half ride through Morley Green, Mobberley, Great Warford, Alderley Edge, Mottram St Andrew and Woodford - having set off from the new Royles store at Total Fitness.
Following the ride they returned to Royles for a question and answer session with Chris Boardman, who also won three stages of the Tour de France and set numerous world records - several of which still stand.
Managing Director Andrew Royle said "It was really great to have Chris here showing support for the shop and we're looking forward to having many more events as it is a great location to run events from."
Last year Royles celebrated 35 years of providing bikes to residents of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and beyond - having been established in 1979 at Brook Lane (in the premises now occupied by The Lavender Tree).
Their new 3000 square foot showroom at Total Fitness, just off the A34 opposite Handforth Dean Retail Park, is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 6pm.
