Town Council applies for Premises Licence for public events

DSCN0582

Wilmslow Town Council has applied for a licence so music can be played and alcohol supplied during public events.

They have applied to Cheshire East Council for a Premises Licence for Grove Street, Alderley Road, Water Lane, Hawthorn Street, Altrincham Road, Grove Avenue, Church Street and The Carrs park.

Town Clerk Matthew Jackson explained "We currently have two events each year, the Christmas Switch on and the Party on the Carrs. Each time we do them we have to apply for a temporary event notice from CEC.

"The only reason that we are getting a premises licence is because of the numbers now being attracted to these events and to avoid the need for a separate application ( and fee) each time.

"The same thing was done in Macclesfield Town Centre recently for the same reasons."

The licence will enable them to provide live music, recorded music, show films and have dance and play performances for public events from Monday to Sunday between the hours of 10am and 11pm.

They have also applied to be able to supply alcohol from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 10am to 11pm and between 10am and 10pm on Sundays for public events in The Carrs (for Party on the Carrs) and Bank Square (for the Christmas lights switch on).

Any person wishing to make representation in relation to this application may do so in writing by 20th May 2015 to: the Licensing Section, Cheshire East Council, Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, CW1 2BJ.
