Town Council to fund hanging baskets again

Wilmslow Town Council has agreed to spend up to £600 on hanging baskets to help brighten up the town centre and assist Wilmslow's entry into this year's RHS North West in Bloom competition.

Once again they will be offering them to local shops and businesses who would like them. The hanging baskets will be provided with planting so the individual businesses will just need to take responsibility for watering them.

Last year Wilmslow Town Council contacted local businesses to ask whether they would like a hanging basket outside their premises during the summer. Thirty businesses requested one but unfortunately only twenty of the premises were able to accommodate the bracket.

Speaking at the Town Council meeting on Monday, 20th April, Cllr Ruth McNulty said "I would like hanging baskets to be around the town again because they do make a difference, adding another height of floral display."

Wilmslow Town Council voted unanimously to provide funding for those 20 businesses (at £24 per planted basket) who had a hanging basket last year and a provision should an extra 5 businesses request one.
