In Pictures: Red Nose Day 2015

Children and adults across Wilmslow had great fun today dressing up for Red Nose Day and baking cakes to raise money for Comic Relief.

Dean Oaks Primary School celebrated Red Nose Day by baking biscuits and cakes at home and bringing them in to sell at break time, raising £292 Comic Relief. Class 11 also involved teachers and parents in a special Dean Oaks Primary School Bake Off.

Children dressed as Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry judged the teacher's culinary skills and the whole school voted Mr Hughes as the bake off champion!

At Ashdene Primary School children and teachers came dressed as their favourite Comic Relief nose and they had a bake sale organised by year five children. Ashdene raised £180 from the sale of red noses and an additional £289 from donations for the dressing up - making a Red Nose Day total of £469.

Children at St Anne's Fulshaw took part in a bake off for Comic Relief and brought in cakes, biscuits and buns that they had made and decorated themselves. Chez and Annie from Peter Herd Bakery came to judge their magnificent efforts and chose three winning cakes with five to be highly commended.

The winners of the bake off were: 1st - Grace in Class 3, 2nd - Martha in Class 3 and 3rd - Teddy in Class 3. Cakes by Dylan (Class 5), Joshua (Class 5), Jackson (Class 3), Heather (Class 4), Shona (Class 2) were all highly commended.

Chez and Annie said that the standard was exceptionally high and they were amazed at how many children had taken part. All of the cakes were sold at a cake sale after school organised by the School Council. Children also paid a 'fine' of £1 to wear their red noses to school. Parents, staff and pupils took part in the Comic Faces competition and Class 4 organised a sponsored shoot out in netball. Although the final amount raised has to be confirmed, they anticipate it will be in excess of £400.

Clare Daniel Headteacher at St Anne's said "I was so proud of all the children and amazed by their creativity - we clearly have some budding bakers and confectioners in the school population! We were delighted to support this good cause and thank the children, staff and parents for taking part with such enthusiasm, and of course Chez and Annie for giving up their time to come and judge the bake off."

St Benedict's Catholic Primary School pupils took part in an obstacle course challenge today to celebrate Comic Relief. Each class had to navigate a timed and competitive course which involved balancing, target practice and shimmying like Bear Grylls through a parachute.

At Lindow Primary School all children were given a mask template to decorate linked to one of four themes – Glamorous, Hero, Animal and Funny. The children then displayed their masks in school on Friday, 13th March, raising over £350 through selling red noses and voluntary contributions. Co-ordinator Mrs Cranshaw said "The children's masks were amazing and they loved sharing their creations in our special 'Comic Relief' assembly."

At Wilmslow Grange they held a cake sale which raised £110, £240 was collected from selling noses and the main event was a sponsored dance, where each class took turns, with their parents, dancing throughout the day to raise an additional £350.

This culminated in a whole school dance at the end of the day, with all children from nursery to year 6, as well as the teachers. They had a huge amount of fun, got to wear red for the day, eat cake and dance.

Local businesses also got involved in the fundraising. Family Law Solicitors James Maguire & Co held a cake sale, inviting all of the businesses within Black Box who proved very generous and raised £109 for Comic Relief.
