Appeal following attempted distraction burglary on Colshaw Drive

Police are issuing a warning following an attempted distraction burglary in Wilmslow.

A man knocked on the door of a property on Coleshaw Drive at about 6pm on Tuesday 9th December, falsely claiming to be from an internet service provider.

A police spokesperson said "He stated that there was something wrong with a computer at the address and asked to come in. He was refused entry by the residents, who did not own a computer."

Shortly afterwards the 79 and 74 year olds residents received a letter, again pretending to be from an internet service provider, stating that they now had a problem with their TV and they needed to call to arrange a visit.

Police are appealing for any information in relation to the incident to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 711 of 9/12/2014, or anonymously to Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
